Airship 27 Productions has announced that volume 4 of the publisher’s Secret Agent X anthology series is now available for purchase. What does this have to do with the adventures of Lance Star and the Sky Rangers, you ask?

Good question.

And believe it or not there's an answer.

Art: James Burns
Bobby Nash's story, "Mountain Men of The Lost Valley" in Secret Agent X Vol. 4 sends X on a mission to Kiev where he sabotages an enemy stronghold where a weapon of mass destruction is being built. In the Lance Star: Sky Ranger "One Shot!" comic book, Lance undertakes a mission to Kiev to stop his arch nemesis, Baron Otto Von Blood from restarting the same project and once again bringing the weapon on-line.

Even though each story can be read on their own, Lance Star's "One Shot!" is a sequel to Secret Agent X's "Mountain Men of The Lost Valley."

Press Release:

AMERICA’S ACE SPY RETURNS

Airship 27 Productions is thrilled to announce the release of the fourth volume in their best selling pulp series; Secret Agent X – Man of a Thousand Faces.

The greatest pulp spy of them all, Secret Agent X returns in four brand new adventures. Continuing the excitement and thrills generated by the previous three volumes in this series, the Man of a Thousand Faces is back in four daring adventures written by today’s most talented pulp writers.

Back Cover: Rob Davis
“Since starting Airship 27, Secret Agent X has been our flagship series,” explains Managing Editor Ron Fortier. “Pulp fans just love this golden age spy and every time we put out a new book they not only rush to get a copy but they instantly begin clamoring for more of his exciting new adventures. Pulps fans just can’t get enough of Secret Agent X and we’re only too happy to provide them with more.”

Deep in mountains of central Europe, Bobby Nash pits X against a deadly beast-man with a special agenda while Jarrod Courtemanche has the master spy confronting a scientist who controls fears. In a one of a kind cross-over, Agent X confronts one of the most nefarious pulp villains of them all, Fantamos, courtesy of Kevin Noel Olson and finally Frank Schildiner chronicles one of our hero’s earliest missions alongside the famed Sir Lawrence of Arabia in the burning sands of the Sahara.

Art: James Burns
“This is by far the most eclectic collection we’ve released thus far,” added Fortier. The book features twelve interior illustrations by Art Director & Company Designer Rob Davis with a terrific cover by Davis and Shane Evans. It is their second artistic collaboration on this highly popular series.

Dedicated to the protection of his country, the master of disguises, America’s top secret agent is in wavering his loyalty and courage as he once against takes on villainy in all its myriad forms. He is the one and only Secret Agent X!

#####

Bobby Nash's story in Secret Agent X Volume 4 is called “Mountain Men of the Lost Valley.”
Here’s a sample:

X dove forward under the man's highhanded swing and caught him in an impressive tackle that would have done a professional football player proud. Unfortunately, X realized his miscalculation after his feet had left the floor.

There was a loud crack as both men hit the loading door, splintering wood under their impact.

Suddenly there was nothing beneath them as the door fell away. Secret Agent X and the mountain man fell from the speeding train to the waiting ground of the Lost Valley.

SPACE JUMP!

Felix Baumgartner just seconds before the jump.
The Red Bull Stratos Space Jump aired live on The Discovery Channel and across the internet today. Although this isn’t pulp fiction, the brave man who performed the jump is the true definition of a pulp hero, brave and possibly just a little crazy.

The Sky Rangers salute Felix Baumgartner on his history making leap.

Words and Art: Finding the Right Blend in Comic Book Scriptwriting

This week's roundtable at Lance Star: Sky Ranger writer Sean Taylor’s Bad Girls, Good Guys, and Two-Fisted Action Blog focuses specifically on comic book scriptwriting. Sean posted the top three questions he hears often at conventions or from those wanting to start writing comics or looking to turn an indie movie or small press novel into a graphic novel.

Sean assembled a collection of comic book writers together to find out what they had to say. The writers include:
Jim Beard (Ghostbusters Con-Volution, Star Wars Tales, Hawkman Secret Files)
Mike Bullock (Lions, Tigers, and Bears, The Phantom)
Erik Burnham (Ghostbusters, TMNT Splinter, A-Team)
Percival Constantine (Femforce, Kagemono, All-Star Pulp Comics)
Ron Fortier (The Green Hornet, Popeye, Street Fighter, Lance Star: Sky Ranger)
Dan Jurgens (Superman, Booster Gold, Teen Titans, Captain America)
Roland Mann (Cat and Mouse, Ex-Mutants, Switchblade)
John Jackson Miller (Star Wars Knight Errant, Iron Man, Mass Effect)
Michael Avon Oeming (The Victories, Powers, Thor, Red Sonja)
Bobby Nash (Lance Star: Sky Ranger, Fuzzy Bunnies from Hell, Domino Lady vs. The Mummy)
Jenny Reed (Around the World in 80 Days, Charles Darwin)
Janet Stone Wade (Jetta: Tales of the Toshigawa)
