A high flying pulp adventure anthology
Airship 27 Productions and Cornerstone take to the skies with the release of their reprint edition of LANCE STAR – SKY RANGER. This collection of new stories starring the long forgotten pulp hero was the first anthology title produced by Airship 27 Productions, dated 2006. Its overwhelming success helped launch the company’s ambitious plans to bring back classic pulp characters in brand new adventures. “Without LANCE STAR – SKY RANGER, there probably would have been no Airship 27 Productions,” claimed Editor Ron Fortier. “It was the book that got us going.” This anthology features four action packed tales of Lance and his loyal Sky Rangers. They include Attack of the Birdman by Frank Dirscherl, Where the Sea Meets the Sky by Bobby Nash, Shadows Over Kunlun by Win Scott Eckert, and Talons of the Red Condor by Bill Spangler with cover and interior art by comic pro, Rich Woodall of Johnny Raygun fame. The book also contains an article on the history of the character by Norman Hamilton and a second on airplane modeling in the 1930s and 40s by Larry Marshall. Included as an added bonus feature for this new edition is an excerpt from Bobby Nash’s full length novel, Lance Star: Sky Ranger “Cold Snap!” coming soon!
At the height of the pulps’ popularity, flying heroes like Dusty Ayers, G8 and His Battle Aces and Bill Barnes were among the biggest sellers on the market. Airship 27 Prod. is once again turning the spotlight on another such aviation daredevil, LANCE STAR – SKY RANGER!

THE ADVENTURES OF LANCE STAR - SKY RANGER LAUNCHES ON KINDLE!

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:
THE ADVENTURES OF LANCE STAR – SKY RANGER
By Bobby Nash
Way back in 2005, Airship 27 Productions launched a new series of pulp adventures featuring aviation hero, Lance Star. One of the four writers recruited for that first volume was Bobby Nash, who quickly found himself completely enamored with the gutsy World War I veteran flyer. Enough so that in the subsequent three volumes that would follow, Bobby made sure to provide a new story for each.
“It was clear to us,” admits Airship 27 Productions Managing Editor Ron Fortier, “that Bobby had a special love for this character. Enough so that we transferred the copyrights to him. Soon thereafter Bobby wrote and had published the first ever Lance Star comic book.”
When Nash approached Fortier a few years ago about publishing the first ever full length Lance Star novel, both parties were immediately on board with the idea. That novel, tentatively titled – COLD SNAP, should be out sometime in 2017. To promote its arrival, Airship 27 Productions has collected all four of Bobby Nash’s previously published Lance Star tales in this Kindle Only Edition. Besides collecting those great pulp stories, this digital collection also includes the first chapter of Nash’s novel as a special bonus feature.
“We’re excited about Bobby’s plans for Lance Star,” concludes Fortier. “We hope this collection will spur renewed interest in this great high flying hero. Believe me, with a rising talent like Bobby Nash, the best is always yet to come.”

About Lance Star: Sky Ranger “Gods of the Molten Sea”:
Written by Bobby Nash with art by the superstar team of Rock Baker and Jeff Austin:
It started out as a simple supply run to a scientific camp on a small volcanic island. The last thing Lance Star and Buck Tellonger expected was to be captured by an angry local cult as the latest sacrifice to the local Gods of the Molten Sea. Can Lance and Buck rescue the science team and escape before the volcano erupts and kills them all?

AIRSHIP 27 PRODUCTIONS TEAMS UP WITH RADIO ARCHIVES FOR AUDIO PROJECTS
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:
Airship 27 Productions, one of the best known of the New Pulp publishers today, is joining forces with Radio Archives, the leading voice in audiobooks to bring their action/adventure pulp titles to the exciting world of audiobooks.
“We couldn’t be happier about all this,” says Airship 27 Productions Managing Editor, Ron Fortier. “I love great storytelling in any media and have been a big fan of Radio Archives for several years now. How they bring books to life is simply fantastic and brings to mind memories of the golden days of radio.”
Airship 27 Productions was launched over ten years ago by Fortier, a veteran comic book and fantasy writer, along with his partner, professional graphic artist, Rob Davis, who serves as the company’s award winning Art Director. With over a hundred titles in their catalog, Airship 27 Productions is fueled by a stable of over fifty of the finest new pulp writers in the field and a cadre of over thirty amazing artists who provide the books’ interior illustrations and stunning covers for which they are recognized.
Initially begun to create new adventures of classic pulp heroes that had fallen into public domain, Airship 27 quickly expanded its subject matter allowing writers to whip up brand new heroes while at the same time delving into the popular worlds of such classic characters like Sherlock Holmes and Sinbad the Sailor.
“This new venture seems logical,” Fortier continues, “in the next evolutionary step for New Pulp. Radio Archives, under Tom Brown’s inspired leadership, has proven what they can do with classic pulp, now we’re all going to get to see them weave their unique magic on New Pulp. We couldn’t be more excited.”
Tom Brown of Radio Archives commented “We couldn’t be happier to work with Ron and Rob. You can see the passion they have in every book they publish. They are having a lot of fun.”
Tom further said “Audiobooks have been around for 40 years and are just becoming discovered in the last few years. With over a billion Smart Phones that can play audiobooks along with Amazon heavily promoting audiobooks combined with an average 53 minute
commute per day is causing the audiobook field to explode.”
Five years ago only 10% of books had an audiobook version and I believe that number will increase to 90% in the future. Customers now expect a successful publisher to offer an eBook and audiobook version along side their print books.”
As specific titles are chosen, both Radio Archives and Airship 27 Productions will continue to promote each as they become available via press releases and other media marketing tools.

LANCE STAR CROSSES OVER!!!
![]() |
| It starts here... |
Thanks to Sean for including these in the Crossover Universe Blog. I love it when I'm able to crossover characters and stories. I do it whenever I can. I’ll have to write up a nice blog post about it. I have several background characters that have appeared in books in multiple timelines so we’ve gotten to see them grow and age and see what they’ve been up to. Plus, Evil Ways' FBI Agent Harold Palmer has a connection to Lance Star: Sky Ranger and The New Adventures of The Eagle as his grandfather, a G-man, makes appearances in both.

PRESS RELEASE:
2014 NEW PULP AWARDS VOTING NOW OPEN!
Tommy Hancock, Coordinator of the New Pulp Awards (formerly the Pulp Ark Awards) which recognize the best in New Pulp each year, announced today that the final ballot of the 2014 New Pulp Awards has been compiled and released and voting has opened. Voting will continue through 3 PM CST March 12, 2014. The Awards will be physically presented at MidSouthCon in Memphis, Tennessee on March 23, 2014 at 2:30 PM.
“This,” Hancock states, “has been a stellar year for nominations. That being said, some may not see the nominations they made on the final ballot. This could be for more than one reason, the most likely being that two or more nominations were made in a category when only one, per the rules, should have been made OR because a work or creator nominated did not qualify for the award. This happened most frequently with the New Writer category where several writers were nominated who had been published previously prior to 2013 in a book/publication that was considered to be New Pulp. This happens frequently because readers find someone they like and think the book they’ve read is the first one the author did. It explains why even Sax Rohmer received a nomination for New Writer of the Year, one he unfortunately does not qualify for.”
This is the first year of not only the new name for the Awards, but also that voting is open fully to the public. In the past, only those who nominated a work or person for an award were allowed to vote. “This is a big deal,” says Hancock. “This means the New Pulp Awards may actually be the only Pulp Awards truly representative of the fanbase. Having said that, though, we are highly aware that anyone nominated or anyone supporting a nominee could rally up a whole slew of friends, family, and strangers and cast votes for them or their favorite. What we are encouraging is for no one to do that, but to encourage those who have read and/or reviewed the work to vote based on their interest in the work, not because the writer is their third cousin removed. We are having to work on a sort of honor system here and hope our voters will appreciate and respect that.”
The Ballot is available at www.newpulpawards2014.blogspot.com and at www.facebook.com/NewPulpAwards2014. Voting and results and other news related to the Awards will be posted and can be followed at these pages.
For further information on the New Pulp Awards email newpulp2014@yahoo.com.
