MEET THE 'GENRE MIXOLOGIST': AN INTERVIEW WITH BOBBY NASH

Meet “Genre Mixologist”  and Lance Star: Sky Ranger author, Bobby Nash at Medium. Big thanks to author Nick Ahlhelm at Medium for the fun interview.

By the way, "Genre Mixologist" is totally going on the next batch of business cards.

Meet the “Genre Mixologist”: an interview with Bobby Nash

Bobby Nash is a creator whose name I know all the way back from the early days of my own writing career. He’s a fascinating genre-bender in his work, writing mysteries, crime novels, science fiction and of course, super powered fiction. This makes him the perfect subject for my second creator interview.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! A LOOK BACK AT 2017 AND BOOKS RELEASED!

As we settle in to the final few hours of 2017 (to which I say, good riddance), I thought I would take a look back at my output for the year. Let's start with the not so good so this ends on a positive note.

If you follow me on any social media platform or regularly visit my website, you'll know that 2017 was a rough year for me both personally and professionally. My Mom passed away in September after a 3 year battle against cancer. A large chunk of my last year and a half has been caring for her as her condition worsened. Her loss is still a gut punch that will take time to heal. My Dad developed a medical issue and knee replacement surgery as well during this time so I was caretaker for both of them. I was laid off from my day job at the right time to take care of them, so that was a positive, at least. I never thought I would be thankful to be let go from a job.

I had to cancel several convention appearances in 2017 while taking care of the folks and many deadlines fell behind. I am appreciative that the conventions and publishers I work with were all understanding and worked with me to readjust my schedule. I have already started building my 2018 convention schedule. March, specifically, is packed with something each weekend.

My Dad is doing better, recovering nicely from his surgery. We're still all pretty raw emotionally here, but my dad, brother, and I are getting through it together.

I have started getting back into the writing groove. I'm not quite back up to the daily word count I was hitting before, but I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things and there are big plans afoot for 2018, including catching up old deadlines and a few new projects being added to the pipeline. 2018 looks to be a busy year.

Speaking of busy years, 2017 did see some books released featuring my work, including 5 audio books (reading previously released material), 1 bundle (featuring the previously released Earthstrike Agenda novel), and 7 paperback releases. You can see the full list below.

BOOKS PUBLISHED IN 2017
SnowFalls (BEN Books)
SnowStorm (BEN Books)
LanceStar: Sky Ranger Vol. 2 Audio (Airship 27/Radio Archives)
LanceStar: Sky Ranger Vol. 3 Audio (Airship 27/Radio Archives)
DominoLady: Sex As A Weapon Audio (Moonstone Books/Radio Archives)
SnowDrive (BEN Books)
85North (Falstaff Books)
LanceStar: Sky Ranger Vol. 4 Audio (Airship 27/Radio Archives)
TheRuby Files Vol. 2 (Airship 27)
TheRuby Files Vol. 2 Audio (Airship 27/Radio Archives)
Sandersonof Metro (Trinity Comics)

FourTomorrows – A Space Opera Box Set [Earthstrike Agenda] (Mechanoid Press)

All of these releases are still available wherever you buy your favorite books. If they don't have it, they can certainly order it for you.

I look forward to an exciting 2018 as series continue and new projects also launch. As a matter of fact, I spoke with an artist friend of mine today and we kicked around some ideas on the comic book front. Keep watching this space for more details as I have them to share.

Thank you for following my assorted ramblings this year. Please, stick around for more. I will try to be entertaining. You can also keep track of my various comings and goings on PatreonFacebookInstagramTwitterPinterestGoogle+LinkedIn!www.bobbynash.com, and on this page.

Happy New Year!

AIRSHIP 27 presents ALL STAR PULP COMICS # 2
A Pulp Adventure Comic Book
(Portion of Profits Goes to Boston Red Cross)

Airship 27 Productions has once again teamed with Redbud Studio comics to release the second in their on-going pulp comics anthology.  The first giant issue in this series won the coveted Pulp Ark Award for Best Pulp Comic of 2010.

Volume two of the series, co-edited by creators Ron Fortier and Rob Davis, is even bigger than that stellar premier issue.  Contained here are eight stories featuring both modern and classic pulp heroes; Ki-Gor the Jungle Lord, the Black Bat, Cain, Robin Hood, Lance Star, Brothers Bones, Dillon and Domino Lady.

The cover is by Will Meugniot and features Ki-Gor’s lovely mate, Helene, battling back to back with Derrick Ferguson’s modern day adventurer, Dillon.  Other creators represented are Russ Anderson, Fortier, Davis, Ian Watson, Thomas Deja, Michelle Sciuto, Sean Taylor, Aaron Meade, Todd Jones, Lee Oaks, James Gaubatz, Van Plexico,
Andrew Salmon and Kelly Everaert.

Lance Star: Sky Ranger
The book is available from Indy Planet.com and part of the proceeds are being donated to the Boston Red Cross.  “We were the last stages of assembling the book,” explains Editor Foriter, “when the Patriots’ Day bombings occurred in Boston.  All of us, like the rest of the country, were in shock and felt helpless to do anything.”  It was writer Van Plexico who contacted Fortier about possibly offering some of the sales proceeds to help those injured in the terror attack.  “The second Van brought up, I knew it was something we had to do,” Fortier continues.  He contacted Davis and all the creators and the decision was made to take all the profits earned by the book during its first six months in print and donate them to the Boston Red Cross.

“We truly hope our fans, when they learn of this idea, will want to rally around a truly good cause and help us put sales over the top,” adds co-editor Rob Davis.  “We really want this to be the best selling title Redbud Studio has ever produced.”
